This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. Farmington Residents Directory is a private reference site. We cannot retrieve records, certify copies, confirm a person's address, or change a government roll or database. Direct each request to the custodian that holds the record. For emergencies, dial 911. If you believe you are being stalked or harassed, contact local police.
Records and Office Contacts
Use the record type to choose the office. Street and parcel questions are covered in the Farmington street directory; historical volumes are addressed in the Farmington city directory; and a focused name search belongs on the Farmington resident lookup page. For general city data, use the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes chapter 13, with the Farmington city custodian.
- General city records: City Hall receives general requests under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
- Property and recorded documents: Dakota County Property Taxation & Records, assessor, GIS, and survey sources hold separate parcel, map, plat, and deed material.
- Registration information: MNVotes has its own individual lookup requirements and voter-file access rules.
- Court, vital, library, and archive material: use the listed statewide or county custodian rather than City Hall.

Police requests are separate from general City Hall data requests. Use the department's specific Police Data Request Form for police reports, accident reports, calls for service, statistical reports, or other law-enforcement data. The department states that many requests are answered within 10 business days; classified, protected, juvenile, investigative, or otherwise restricted data may be withheld or redacted.
